How To Clean Your Paving Stones
Fall is an excellent time to clean your paving stones. After the busy summer months, families are settling into a new school routine and preparing for the holidays. Take advantage of these next few weeks to do projects around the house and in the garden before the holiday season gets into full swing.
Cleaning your pavers is so easy that the whole family can help. Here is what you need:
- A broom
- Dishwashing soap
- Scrubbing pad
- Pavers sealer
By cleaning your pavers, you will help them to look new for a longer period of time. Additionally, by removing the dirt and debris, their beautiful color will shine through. Follow these steps to clean your paving stones:
Sweep. Grab your broom and sweep away the dirt and debris that has gotten onto your pavers. If you have a lot of leaves on the ground, you can use your leaf blower first to make it easier. Once the leaves are gone, use your broom to sweep away the remaining dirt.
Use water. If your paving stones have a fresh coat of pavers sealer, you can typically clean them with water only. Simply use an attachment for your hose so that you can control the flow of water. Hose off your pavers and most of the surface stains should be washed away.
Create a cleaning solution. Without paver sealer, you may get some stains throughout the year. Fortunately, the majority of them can be removed by using a simple cleaning solution. Fill your bucket with a mixture of water and dish washing soap. Mix them together, and you are ready to go.
Scrub your pavers. Use a soft scrubbing pad or rag to clean your paving stones using the new cleaning solution that you created. All you need is a little elbow grease, and the surface stains should come right out. If you have an oil stain, you will probably need to use a specific oil stain remover. You can purchase it at the auto parts store.
Apply pavers sealer. Once your pavers are sparkling clean, you can keep them that way longer by applying a coat of pavers sealer. It is easy to apply, and once you do, your pavers can be cleaned with water only. As an added benefit, they will look newer as well.
If you want your pavers to look amazing but simply don’t have the time to maintain them, Go Pavers can help. We provide maintenance services and can keep your pavers clean all year round. We can also replace any stones that have been damaged or severely stained. One of the many benefits for using pavers is that they can be replaced one at a time. This way if you get oil on a paver or two, they can be removed and replaced without disrupting the surrounding ones. Simultaneously if one of your walkway pavers becomes cracked, it can be replaced within a couple of hours so that there is no risk of your family tripping over a damaged stone.
